Immigrants in our own Land

In class today i went over the poem again for a better understanding. After i got a better understanding of the poem by Jimmy Santiago, I read Jessica's post. I agree with Jessica's post for the most part.
Tone- The tone of the poem in the beginning is very happy and achievable. The tone at the end of the poem though was sad and depressing.
Theme- Dreams don't always come true

MY MAD DREAM OF AN ESSAY

Remember the time you ate that spicy apple just before you went to bed on the night before the big soccer game? Oh, that weird dream you had about the 2016 presidential election. When you woke up you couldn't quite remember the crazy details, but after reading "On Self-Reliance" and "A Sound of Thunder" it's all coming back to you.

The dream started badly. You were in line with your family at a friends house waiting to be sent to go work in the fields. Everywhere you looked there were posters of president-elect Barney, looking like a crazy dinosaur who could eat a whole cow.

Suddenly, there was Ralph Waldo Emerson telling you," Be yourself; no base imitator of another, but your best self." You realized that you have something to contribute to the world so you decided to help. But it wasn't easy. First you had to put on a fancy suit and shoes and then you had to make a time machine to go back in time to the White House to convince people to learn about the candidates and their view and racism.

But right there in the White House there was a giant spider and it started biting everyone. People started to panic. You grabbed a gun from a nearby store and yelled everyone remain calm. Every stopped and listened. so you kept going.

Most of the things we do today will effect the things that happen in the future. It is up to you to decide if you want to do the right things or not. For example in "A Sound of Thunder" when Eckels kills the butterfly he changed the entire future. From the how the language is written to who won the presidential election. That is why people have to think before they do something. People need to make their won choices too. You should not be following other people. Like Emerson says you need to be self-reliant and not depend on other people.

Emerson's Child

Election day is over and everyone is shook at the outcome. No one could believe what just happened. This election is tearing communities, states, even the country apart. Everyone is distraught and angry over the outcome of the election, no one could have predicted this would be the outcome. Everyone is talking about how the country is going to fall in the next four years.
Emerson would view the 2016 presidential election as a disaster. Emerson would view this presidential election as a disaster because everyone is following society and saying the same thing. "Society is a wave. The wave moves onward, but the water of which it is composed does not.", is a quote Emerson uses that best fits this situation. No matter how much people say our new president is terrible it is not going to change the fact that he is still president. People need to except the fact that he is going to be the president for the next four years. People just need to move on and hope he will be a decent president.
Do not get me wrong i hate our new president as well, but like i said not much we can do to change it. I just have to move on with my life and hope he does a good job as president of one of the most powerful nations in the world. I do believe that though that Emerson would think that our president would be a genius. Emerson would think Donald Trump would be a genius because he says whatever he wants and does not care what people think. For example he has said some pretty awful things, but he does not care what people think about his opinion. Everyone is also entitled to their opinion.
"Let a man know his worth and keep things under his feet." I believe this quote by Emerson fits Donald Trump well because i believe he has found his worth. Like i said most of the things he says are terrible and awful things, but that is just him. I believe Emerson would like how Trump says things not caring what people would think. But, a lot of the things Donald Trump says are very controversial. There is a lot of people that disagree with his views on immigration and how he treats people. All his views are also causing havoc around the country. People are also throwing riots as well to protest against Trump.
Emerson would have different views on this presidential election. He could say it is a good thing because people are standing up for something they believe is wrong. He could also say this presidential election is a disaster because everyone is following society and saying the same thing. Even though the outcome was not what people intended it to be, people just need to move on and hope for the best. People should riot and cause havoc because it is not going to change anything." Nothing can bring you happiness, but yourself."

Emerson for the Young Buck

I have learned a lot from Emerson these past couple of days. For example I learned that Emerson is a huge believer that people should be themselves and no one else. Emerson wants people to be themselves in a world who wants people to fit in. I have also learned from Emerson to believe in yourself and try. He wants you to be happy with yourself and no one can make you happy, but yourself. So for anyone reading this don't be afraid to be different and be yourself.

Team Vocab

This presidential election has transformed into a battle, with venomous attacks from both aggravating parties. Hillary has remained stolid, and I personally wanna punch Trump in the proboscis. His supporters have slowly dissolved and the ones who have remained are hypnotized into believing America will be great again. This is a melancholy moment in American history because soon one of these candidates will be president. I earnestly believe that neither candidate should be eligible for office.

Essay 1 Revised

Who doesn't like to be around friends and loved ones? I know I do and I also agree with E.M. Forester's view that personal relations are more important than causes or patriotism. I believe that personal relations are more important because it connects people.Patriotism just connects people with their country not his or her loved ones. In my opinion being with loved ones is more important than showing love to your country. Friends and loved ones will always be there for you, even through the toughest times. If something ever happens to your country, friends and loved ones will be there to help you get through it.

Patriotism just shows love for your country and nothing else. If your country is going through tough times and you become  the people you love and friends will help you get through it.  The country you love and support will never help you get through tough times like your friends and the people you love will. In some cases your own country will make you go through rough times. The country you support can help you with many things, but it will never be a real friend. The only thing patriotism does is show love for your country by putting up flags, going to war and celebrating the independence of the country.

Personal relations on the other hand is way more important than patriotism. Being close to someone is way more important than being close to your country. If you are close to someone they can give advise and help you get through the toughest times of your life. Having close people to talk to is good too. For example you can tell them your problems or simply tell them how good life is going. It is always good to have someone to go to when you are having problems.

To sum things up I agree with E.M. Forester's view that personal relations are more important than causes or patriotism. Personal relations connects people and brings them together. Patriotism on the other hand just shows love for a country someone loves. Friends and loved ones will always be there for you and give you advice something a country you love will never be able to do for you.

A Hug is Nearly a Gun Spelled Backwards

I do agree with E.M. Forester's view that personal relations are more important than causes or patriotism. I believe that personal relations is more important because it connects people.
Patriotism just connects people with their country not his or her loved ones. In my opinion being with loved ones is more important than showing love to your country. Friends and loved ones will always be there for you, even through the toughest times. If something ever happens to your country friends and loved ones will be there to help you get through it.

Patriotism just shows love for your country and nothing else. If your country is going through tough times and become sad people you love and friends will help you get through it.  The country you love and support will never help you get through tough times like your friends and the people you love will. The country you support can help you with many things, but it will never be a real friend. The only thing patriotism does is show love for your country by putting up flags. going to war and celebrating the independence of the country.

Exploring with Satire

To those who are reading this article, this is going to be a satire about fast food. This may be offensive to some people and I apologize for that. If you think you might find this offensive please feel free to stop reading, other wise this is my article of satire about fast food.

To those who go out and eat fast food good job. On the contrary those who don't eat fast food and eat home cooked meals stop and go eat fast food. Who doesn't want to eat the greasy food fast food restaurants have to offer. Why waste time and money at some fancy restaurant when you can get double the food for cheaper at any fast food restaurant. I mean its only common sense you get more quantity for less money doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which one is the better deal.

Who doesn't want to eat the delicious hamburgers with all the calories at fast food restaurants? Or even the salty fries with all the cholesterol? Lets not forget the sugary soda, if that don't give you a heart attack then I don't know what will. Lets not forget about dessert, a lot of fast food restaurants have a lot to choose from. For example you can get pie, cookies, cake and much more. Who doesn't want all those calories going down their throat?

Eating home cooked meals is much more healthier and tastes bad. Why not get a delicious hamburger and eat it at the comfort of your home. Cooking meals at home take to long, a better option is going out and getting a meal at a fast food restaurant full of calories. Who doesn't want to get fat eating the food they love? You only live once so why not eat the food you want to eat instead of the food you don't want to eat.

Satire

This is an example of satire because it is using humor to criticize Pepsi.

This is another example of satire because it is saying that when you go to college you go into debt.

This is also an example of satire because it uses irony saying kids are obese and there is a McDonald's advertisement on the bottom.
